Previously: When Chloe took her newborn baby to the grave of the father he would never meet, she expected to mourn in silence. Instead, a grieving mother confronted her with a devastating truth.

The revelation changed everything. Eleanor, once a distant and formidable figure of high society, dissolved into tears. She held both Chloe and baby Leo close, weeping for the piece of her son that had returned to her. Within hours, she insisted on bringing them to the sprawling Vance estate. Eleanor wanted to make up for lost time, filling a sun-drenched nursery with everything a baby could ever need. For a fleeting moment, Chloe believed she had finally found a safe haven for her son.

But the peace was short-lived. Two days later, Julian’s older brother, Richard, returned from a business trip. Unlike his mother, Richard did not look at Leo with love or wonder. He saw the baby as an existential threat to his sole claim over the vast Vance family fortune. That night, while Eleanor was asleep, Richard confronted Chloe in the dim light of the library, tossing a thick legal folder onto the mahogany desk.

"I know exactly what you are doing," Richard sneered, his eyes cold and calculating. "You think you can use some random child to worm your way into our family's estate. But I won't let you rob me of what is mine."

Chloe felt her blood run cold. "I don't care about the money, Richard! I loved Julian, and his mother deserves to know her grandson." But Richard only laughed, a harsh, mocking sound. He leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. He explained that he had already drafted custody papers. If a DNA test proved the child was Julian's, Richard would use his immense wealth and legal influence to declare Chloe an unfit mother, stripping her of parental rights and taking Leo for himself. "You have twenty-four hours to leave this house alone," he warned. "Or I will make sure you never see your son again."
