The humiliation was too much for Lieutenant Robert to bear. His authority had been completely shattered in front of his men and the prison guards. Enraged, he reached for his service weapon, his face twisted in a mask of pure fury. "Step away from the animals, Sarah!" he bellowed, his voice cracking. "They've gone rogue. They're a public safety hazard. I'm putting them down!"

Sarah's heart hammered against her ribs. She knew Robert's threat wasn't empty. He was desperate. If he killed the dogs, he would destroy the only evidence of her superior training and the deep bond that proved they were never his to command. More importantly, he would kill her family. Shadow growled, a low, vibration in his chest, sensing the immediate danger to his alpha.

Before Robert could align his sights, the heavy iron gates of the facility yard were rammed open. A convoy of three black, unmarked SUVs tore onto the damp concrete, their tires screeching. Armed federal agents in tactical gear poured out, training their rifles directly on Robert and Miller. Behind them stepped out Assistant U.S. Attorney Evelyn Vance, holding a thick folder.

"Lieutenant Robert, drop your weapon immediately!" Vance commanded through a megaphone. "We have a federal warrant for your arrest, along with Officer Miller, for conspiracy, evidence tampering, and trafficking."

Miller immediately threw his hands in the air, his knees buckling. "I didn't want any part of this!" he yelled, betraying his partner in an instant. "Robert set her up! He planted the contraband in Sarah's locker to stop her from exposing the K9 transport route!"

Robert looked like a cornered animal. His eyes darted from the federal agents to the weeping Miller, and finally to Sarah, who stood guarded by her four loyal protectors. Realizing his career and life were over, his finger began to tighten on the trigger, aimed directly at Sarah's chest.
