They Publicly Humiliated Me for My Scars, but My Admiral Revealed My True Identity
The grand ballroom of the Montgomery estate was a sea of glittering diamonds and flowing champagne, a place where wealth was the only currency that mattered. Grace stood near the edge of the dance floor, her simple white blouse and modest skirt making her an easy target for the elite crowd. Five years ago, she had been married to Julian Montgomery, but after her sudden and unexplained disappearance, she had been branded a runaway and a disgrace. Now she was back, only wanting to reclaim her late mother's heirlooms, but she had walked straight into a trap.
Penelope, Julian’s new platinum-blonde fiancee, blocked her path with a cruel smile.

A Public Humiliation
"Look at what the tide washed in," Penelope sneered, her voice carrying across the silent room. "A charity case trying to crawl back into high society."
Grace kept her chin high. "I only came for what is mine, Penelope. I have no interest in your world."
But Penelope wanted a spectacle. In a flash of malice, she reached out and grabbed the collar of Grace’s blouse. With a violent tear, she ripped the fabric down Grace’s spine. The crowd gasped in unison. Exposed to the cold room were thick, jagged, stitched cross scars covering Grace’s back—the brutal marks of survival.
"Look at her!" Penelope shrieked, pointing mockingly. "She's nothing but scars! A complete monster!"
As the elite whispered in disgust, Edward Montgomery, the family patriarch in his midnight blue tuxedo, stepped forward. "Security, get her out of here!" he barked.
But before the guards could move, the heavy oak doors of the ballroom burst open. Marching through the crowd came Admiral Vance, a legendary military commander. He walked straight to Grace, stood at attention, and delivered a crisp salute.
"Captain Sterling, welcome home," the Admiral declared.
Edward's face turned pale with absolute terror as Grace let out a soft sob of emotional relief.
