Previously: Emily stood bound in a dusty military courtyard, facing a public hair-shaving ordered by a corrupt commander. But they had no idea whose daughter they were trying to break.

The General's Wrath

The dust began to settle, revealing the high-ranking military police officers who immediately secured the perimeter with weapons drawn. From the back seat of the SUV stepped General Robert Vance, the four-star commander of the regional joint task force. The atmosphere instantly changed; the soldiers holding Emily snapped to attention, their faces turning pale. Captain Hayes, the base commander who had orchestrating the cover-up with Thomas, rushed forward, frantically trying to salute with trembling hands.

"General Vance, sir! This is a highly irregular visit,"
Hayes stammered, sweat pouring down his forehead.
"We are currently handling a severe case of insubordination and theft. This private was caught trying to smuggle classified manifests."

General Vance ignored him completely. His heavy boots clicked against the dry dirt as he walked directly over to Emily. He looked down at her bound hands, the bruises on her arms, and the clippers still clutched in the soldier's hand. A dangerous, quiet fury settled over his face. He had spent years watching his daughter build her career from the ground up under her mother’s maiden name, wanting no special treatment. Seeing her treated like a common criminal broke something inside him.

"Who authorized this?"
General Vance asked, his voice a low, vibrating growl that made even the battle-hardened MPs shudder.

Thomas, still clinging to his arrogance and unaware of the familial bond, stepped forward.

"General, I am the lead contractor here. This girl is a thief. We were simply restoring order. You can't let a low-ranking private disrupt our operations."

Vance turned his gaze to Thomas, his eyes cold as ice.

"You are a civilian, Mr. Thomas. And you have just ordered the physical assault of a United States soldier on a federal military installation. Arrest them both,"
the General ordered the MPs. Realizing his empire was crumbling, Captain Hayes panicked, reaching for his sidearm. But Thomas, desperate and wild-eyed, snatched the pistol from Hayes's holster and pointed it directly at the General.
