Three Bullies Tormented a Quiet Old Fisherman, Unaware of His Hidden Identity
Previously: When three arrogant young men tried to force a quiet elderly fisherman off his favorite dock, they had no idea the "harmless old man" held the key to their entire future.
The Shift of Power
Thomas stood up slowly, his tall frame unfolding with a quiet dignity that seemed to catch the three young men off guard. He didn't raise his fists, nor did he raise his voice. Instead, he reached into the pocket of his distressed leather jacket and pulled out a simple, silver flip-phone.
Jason let out a loud, mocking laugh.

"What are you gonna do, old man? Call the cops? Go ahead. My dad is Richard Vance. He practically owns this entire town."
Thomas stared at the boy, his expression unreadable.
"Your father is Richard Vance?" Thomas asked calmly.
"Yeah, he is. So you’d better pack up your trash and get lost," Jason sneered.
Without a word, Thomas dialed a number and placed the phone to his ear. When the call connected, he spoke in a low, authoritative tone.
"Richard, I am down at the Silver Lake dock. Your son and his friends just kicked my late father's fishing rod across the planks."
On the other end of the line, a sudden gasp echoed. Richard Vance’s confident, political voice cracked instantly.
"Thomas? Oh my God. Please tell me you’re joking. Is Jason there?"
"He is," Thomas replied coldly. "And I think it’s time we discuss your mayoral re-election campaign funding. As well as the mortgage on your family's lakeside estate."
Jason’s smirk vanished. He looked at Derek, his brow furrowing in sudden confusion.
"Who is that?" Jason demanded, stepping closer.
Thomas simply pressed the speaker button.
"Jason, you absolute idiot!" his father’s voice roared from the phone, trembling with sheer panic. "Do you have any idea who you are talking to? That is Thomas Sterling! He owns the entire lakeside district, he funds my campaign, and he could ruin our family before sunset! Apologize to him right now!"
The three boys froze, the color draining from their faces as they realized the gravity of their mistake.
