Previously: When Clara was falsely accused of stealing from the wealthy family she served, she was thrown out with her daughter. But the family's loyal butler held a secret that changed everything.

That evening, Richard quietly let Clara into the Sterling mansion. Her heart pounded against her ribs as she walked down the familiar hallway toward the grand parlor. Pushing the heavy oak doors open, she stepped inside, interrupting Katherine and Charles, who were discussing estate finances. Charles immediately sneered, his face turning red with anger.

"How dare you show your face here again, you thief!"
Charles yelled, stepping forward to physically usher her out. But Richard stepped in front of him, holding up a laptop.
"We are here to show the truth, Mrs. Sterling,"
Richard said firmly.

The Truth Exposed

Before Charles could stop him, Richard plugged in the USB drive and played the unedited security footage on the large parlor monitor. The video played in high definition. The thief's hands came into frame, and there, shining clearly in the light, was the gold signet ring with the Sterling crest. The camera panned slightly, catching Charles's face as he glanced toward the hallway before pocketing the necklace.

Katherine gasped, her face draining of color as she looked from the screen to her son.

"Charles... how could you?"
she whispered, her voice breaking. Charles stammered, trying to make excuses, but the evidence was undeniable. Katherine turned on him with a cold fury that far surpassed her earlier anger toward Clara.
"You stole from me, lied to my face, and threw an innocent mother and child onto the streets to cover your cowardice. Pack your bags, Charles. You are written out of my will, and you are no longer welcome in this house."

As Charles was escorted out in disgrace, Katherine turned to Clara, tears streaming down her face. She took Clara’s hands in her own.

"I am so deeply sorry, Clara. I let my pride blind me. Please, let me make this right."
Katherine offered Clara her job back, but this time as the estate’s head manager, complete with a beautiful cottage on the property for her and Grace. Clara accepted, knowing her nightmare was finally over. True loyalty cannot be bought with wealth, and justice always finds its way to the light.
