My Wealthy Husband Tried to Ruin Me, but His Father Had a Secret Plan
Previously: When Sarah's abusive husband Thomas and his cold-hearted mistress Victoria cornered her in their mansion, she thought all hope was lost—until her powerful father-in-law burst through the doors with an army of bodyguards.
The Shadow of the Past
The room descended into a suffocating silence, broken only by Sarah’s soft, trembling breaths. Thomas tried to compose himself, stepping away from the armchair and smoothing his white button-down shirt. Victoria’s cold composure cracked for a brief second, her fingers tightening around her wine glass as the bodyguards fanned out, blocking every exit.
"Father, this is a private family matter," Thomas stammered, attempting to regain his footing. "Sarah has been hysterical, and I was simply—"
"Silence!" Charles boomed, stepping forward. "Do not dare lie to me in my own home, Thomas. You are a coward, just like your mother always warned me you would become."
Charles walked over to Sarah, his stern expression softening into deep concern. He gestured to one of his guards, who immediately stepped forward with a medical kit. Charles then turned back to his son and Victoria, pulling a thick leather folder from his coat pocket and throwing it onto the marble coffee table. The impact sounded like a gunshot in the quiet room.

Victoria’s glass slipped from her hand, shattering on the floor and spilling red wine like a pool of blood. She stared at the documents spilling out of the folder. They were bank statements, wire transfers, and corporate audits detailing a massive embezzlement scheme. For the past year, Thomas and Victoria had been secretly funneling millions of dollars from the Sterling family empire into an offshore account.
But Charles was not finished. He reached into his pocket and pulled out an old silver locket—the very locket Thomas had stolen from Sarah months ago. Charles opened it to reveal a faded photograph of a beautiful blonde woman.
"You married Sarah because you discovered who her mother was," Charles said, his voice trembling with emotion. "You found out about the secret trust fund I established for her mother, Evelyn, thirty years ago. A trust fund worth fifty million dollars, which was passed down to Sarah."
Sarah gasped, looking from the locket to Charles. She had always been told her mother was a simple librarian who died in poverty. Charles looked at Sarah, tears welling in his eyes. "Evelyn was the love of my life, Sarah. Your father-in-law is not just your husband's father. I am the man who loved your mother, and I swore to protect her child."
