Previously: When a smug socialite tried to kick Elizabeth out of an exclusive jewelry boutique, she had no idea she was speaking to the actual owner of the entire luxury brand.

The Price of Arrogance

Inside her chauffeured town car, Elizabeth watched the city streets blur past. Within ten minutes, her phone began to ring incessantly. It was Richard Miller, Lauren's husband and a minority partner who managed the regional distribution. He was frantic, his voice cracking with desperation. "Elizabeth, please! My wife made a terrible mistake. She didn't know who you were! Please don't freeze our accounts!"

"Your wife's arrogance is a symptom of a much larger issue, Richard," Elizabeth replied coldly. "A complete lack of respect for the people who build this brand. I am initiating a full audit of your division immediately."

She hung up and directed her forensic accounting team to dig deep into Richard's financial records. She had suspected minor irregularities in the East Coast division for months, but Lauren's public display of unearned privilege suggested they were hiding much more than simple mismanagement. Two hours later, the lead auditor called back with shocking news: Richard had been embezzling millions of dollars, funneling corporate funds into offshore accounts to fund his wife’s lavish lifestyle.

Elizabeth summoned Richard, Lauren, and the disgraced manager William back to the locked flagship store. When she walked in, the atmosphere was suffocating. Richard fell to his knees, begging for mercy, while Lauren stood pale and trembling, clutching her designer handbag. William stood in the corner, sweating through his charcoal suit, realizing his career was over.

"You thought I didn't belong in my own store, Lauren?" Elizabeth asked, tossing the thick stack of audit documents onto the glass display case. "But it turns out, neither of you belong in this society. The police are already on their way."

Richard turned on his wife, his face contorted with rage. "This is your fault! Your stupid pride ruined us!" he screamed, lunging toward her. But before he could grab her, Lauren cried out a confession that stunned everyone in the room.
