A Young Champion Mocked a 71-Year-Old Woman, Until She Signed Her Real Name
Previously: When 71-year-old Maud entered the elite shooting range, a young competitor mocked her age. But when she pulled the trigger and signed the registration form, a dark secret shook everyone.
The Final Target
Julian laughed, a cold, humorless sound. "And how do you plan to do that? With an old pistol? I own this club, I own the athletic board, and I own the officials. You are nothing but a ghost." He gestured to his security guards to grab her arm.
But before the guards could touch her, the glass doors of the lobby opened again. This time, three state athletic commission investigators, accompanied by local journalists, walked into the range. Julian's face went pale as he recognized the lead investigator.

Maud smiled faintly. "I didn't just come here to shoot, Julian. I spent the last year gathering the original, unaltered digital logs from the 1984 qualifiers—the ones you thought you deleted. And this morning, they were delivered to the federal commission."
Julian spun around, glaring at Andrew. "What is the meaning of this?" he demanded.
Andrew, trembling but finally finding his courage, stepped forward. He stood beside Maud, looking Julian straight in the eyes. "I kept the backup tapes, Julian," Andrew said, his voice loud enough for the entire room to hear. "I spent forty years living with the guilt of helping you frame Maud. I won't carry it to my grave. It's over."
The journalists began snapping photos. Lucas stared at his grandfather in absolute horror, realizing the family legacy he was so proud of was built entirely on a criminal lie. The security guards backed away, refusing to get involved as the investigators approached Julian with a subpoena.
Maud turned back to the shooting lane, picked up her vintage pistol, and placed it carefully back in her case. She had no need to fire another shot. The truth had finally hit the dead center of the target.
As she walked out of the club into the bright afternoon sun, the heavy weight she had carried for forty years finally lifted from her shoulders. True talent and justice can never be truly buried by time, for the truth always finds its mark.
