Previously: When a smug young soldier mocks a quiet 67-year-old veteran at a desert shooting range, a single shot and a hidden tattoo reveal a legendary secret that changes everything.

The Legacy of the Ghost

The words seemed to hang in the dusty air, heavy and undeniable. The "Ghost Unit" was a legendary, highly classified division that operated in the shadows during the height of the late-century conflicts. They were mythic figures, whispered about in military academies but never officially acknowledged. To see the mark of the black wolf was to look upon a living legend.

Leo’s arrogance vanished, replaced by a sudden, choking panic. He stared at Thomas’s weathered face, his mind racing. His own father, a retired general, had survived a devastating ambush in the mountains decades ago because of a mysterious, unnamed sniper squad that vanished into the night. His father had spent his entire life trying to find the men who saved him, describing the leader as a man with a black wolf tattoo on his arm.

Before Leo could find his voice to apologize, the roar of a heavy engine disrupted the quiet range. A sleek, black SUV kicked up a cloud of dust as it pulled up directly behind the firing line. Three men in dark suits stepped out, their faces grim. The leader of the group, an imposing man with an earpiece, scanned the range until his eyes locked onto Thomas.

Leo watched in utter disbelief as the suit-clad men approached the old veteran, bowing their heads in deep respect. The leader stepped forward and handed Thomas a sealed, official document bearing a gold wax seal.

"Commander Thomas, we have been looking for you for five years," the man in the suit said. "The country needs you one last time. The threat has returned."

Thomas looked at the envelope, his expression hardening. He had spent years trying to escape the shadows of his past, trying to live a quiet life far from the battlefields. But the seal on the envelope belonged to a high-ranking official who knew secrets that could tear the nation apart. Leo stepped closer, his voice trembling as he finally spoke. "Sir... my father is General Vance. Was it you who saved him?"
