The crystal chandeliers of the Grand Belmont banquet hall caught the light, casting a warm, golden glow over the wealthy guests in their designer suits and evening gowns. It was a celebration of success, but for Sarah, her focus was entirely on her eight-year-old son, Tommy. When she noticed him sneaking away from the main table with a loaded plate of spaghetti, curiosity quickly turned to alarm. She followed him into the dim service hallway, only to find him serving the expensive meal to a bruised, dirty boy hiding behind a velvet curtain.

Sarah's maternal instincts flared with protective anger. "What are you doing?" she demanded, her voice cutting through the quiet hallway. She reached out to pull Tommy away from the disheveled stranger.

But Tommy didn't flinch. Instead, he stood up protectively in his gray cardigan, shielding the trembling boy behind him.

"Mom, stop! You don't understand,"
he pleaded, his voice cracking with raw emotion.
"He's the reason I'm alive."

Sarah froze, the air leaving her lungs. Her eyes widened in sheer shock as she gasped, "What are you talking about?"

Tommy pointed a trembling finger at the silent boy, whose face was smeared with dirt and dark bruises.

"He pushed me off the road before the SUV hit me,"
Tommy explained, tears welling in his young eyes.

The gravity of his words hit Sarah like a physical blow. She looked down at the bruised boy, Billy, who shrank back, nervously clutching his tattered shirt. Tears began to stream down Sarah's face as the realization washed over her. Just two days ago, Tommy had come home claiming he had tripped on the sidewalk near the busy intersection. He hadn't mentioned a speeding vehicle, nor had he mentioned the guardian angel who had risked everything to save him.
