Evelyn, despite her seventy years and aching joints, was on her knees scrubbing the light oak floorboards of her beloved family home. She had lived in this sunlit, airy house for over forty years, pouring her heart into every single corner. But today, the atmosphere in the room was heavy and hostile. Her daughter, Chloe, a bitter and entitled young woman wearing a light yellow sundress, watched her with cold, mocking eyes. Chloe believed she was far above manual labor and utterly despised her mother's simple, old-fashioned ways. As Evelyn focused on a stubborn spot on the floor, Chloe stealthily approached her from behind. With a cruel sneer, Chloe raised her foot in a menacing gesture, then reached down and violently yanked Evelyn's silver hair backward. Evelyn let out a painful groan, her hands slipping from the wet rag as her head was snapped back.

Suddenly, Thomas, Evelyn's son, rushed into the living room. Dressed in a sharp navy suit, he had been watching the scene unfold from the background with a strange, fleeting smile. But seeing the perfect opportunity to intervene, he charged forward and forcefully pushed Chloe away to protect their mother. Chloe lost her footing completely, tripped over the blue plastic bucket of soapy water, and crashed hard onto the floor, screaming in absolute rage. Thomas knelt beside Evelyn, offering comforting words. To Evelyn, Thomas was her savior, the golden child who had always protected her from Chloe’s toxic outbursts. But she had no idea that this dramatic rescue was merely the opening act of a sinister play designed to strip her of everything she owned.

"Are you alright, Mother?"

Thomas whispered, his voice dripping with mock concern. Chloe, sobbing on the wet floor, glared at them both.

"You'll pay for this!"

she screamed, her voice echoing off the walls.
