The neon sign of the Highway 9 Diner flickered weakly against the darkening Nevada sky. Inside, the air smelled of stale grease, burnt coffee, and raw tension. Chloe, just eighteen and visibly trembling, pushed open the heavy glass door. Her dark brown bob clung to her pale face as she walked down the narrow aisle, her boots squeaking against the linoleum. The diner was dominated by the Iron Skulls, a notorious local motorcycle club. Every eye in the room tracked her movement.

At the counter, Hank, a scruffy biker wearing a grease-stained trucker hat, sneered as she approached. Chloe stopped. She knew the risks, but she had reached the end of her rope. Without saying a word, she reached down and slowly pulled back the green sleeve of her jacket. There, etched into her pale forearm, was a detailed winged skull tattoo.

A Mark of Secrets

The reaction was instantaneous. Hank’s sneer vanished, replaced by a look of absolute shock. He nearly dropped his coffee mug, his eyes locked on the ink. Across the room, Kane, a towering, bald biker in a heavy black leather vest, stood up so fast his wooden booth screeched against the floor. He crossed the diner in three massive strides.

Before Hank or anyone else could react, Kane crouched protectively next to Chloe. His massive hand gripped her shoulder, steadying her trembling frame. He glared at the rest of his crew, his voice booming like thunder through the quiet diner.

"Nobody moves. She's with me."

The tension in the room spiked. Hank looked ready to protest, but Kane’s cold stare silenced him. Leaning down, Kane brought his lips close to Chloe's ear, his voice dropping to an urgent, ragged whisper.

"Door, now."

Chloe didn't hesitate. She turned and bolted toward the exit, Kane right behind her, his large frame shielding her from the predatory glares of the club.
