A Shocking Discovery on the Lawn

The late afternoon sun cast long, amber shadows across the suburban lawn. Frank, a rugged biker with a faded goatee and grease-stained tattoos, was adjusting the carburetor on his vintage motorcycle when a soft rustle in the grass caught his attention. He turned just in time to see five-year-old Timmy, wearing an oversized flannel shirt, trip over a patch of clover and tumble onto the soft lawn.

Frank immediately wiped his hands on a rag and knelt down beside the boy.

"You alright, buddy?"
he asked, his gravelly voice softening. But Timmy didn't cry about his scraped knee. Instead, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, beautifully carved wooden motorcycle. With tears welling in his wide blue eyes, the boy held it up.
"Please sir, buy it,"
Timmy pleaded, his voice trembling with a desperation far too heavy for a child.

Frank gently took the toy. As his calloused fingers ran over the polished cherry wood, his heart stopped. On the bottom of the engine block was a tiny, hand-carved spade—the unmistakable signature of Sean, Frank's best friend and riding partner.

"Who made this?"
Frank asked, his breath catching in his throat.
"My dad,"
Timmy sniffled. Frank looked at him intently, a cold dread washing over him.
"What's his name, kiddo?"
The boy's face crumpled as he cried out,
"My mom said you were there when they buried him. But the grave was empty."
