A Nightmare in the Maternity Ward

The sterile, cold smell of the hospital room offered no comfort to twenty-six-year-old Chloe. Clad in a pale blue gown, her blonde hair damp with sweat, she clutched her newborn baby girl, Lily, tightly against her chest. Tears streamed down Chloe’s face, but they weren't tears of joy. They were tears of absolute terror. Standing at the foot of her bed was her husband, Julian. Dressed in a sharp navy suit that contrasted sharply with his wild, angry eyes, the thirty-two-year-old looked less like a proud new father and more like a predator ready to strike.

"Take that, you!" Julian snarled, lunging forward with his arm swung back, aiming to wrench the infant from Chloe's fragile grip.

"Please stop!" Chloe sobbed, pulling Lily closer, shielding her tiny body with her own. She knew what Julian wanted. He didn't care about the baby; he cared about the millions tied up in her family's trust fund—a fund that could only be unlocked upon the birth of a healthy heir. Julian wanted the child, and he wanted Chloe out of the picture.

Before Julian’s fist could make contact, the door burst open. An older gentleman, fifty-eight-year-old Arthur, rushed into the room. Dressed in a charcoal suit, his silver hair catching the clinical overhead lights, Arthur didn't hesitate. With surprising strength, he grabbed Julian by the shoulders and shoved him backward, placing his own body between the aggressor and the terrified mother.

"Get away from her!" Arthur barked, his voice echoing off the hospital walls.

Julian stumbled back toward the door, his face twisting in rage as he glared at the intruder. In the background, Sarah, a thirty-four-year-old nurse in teal scrubs, stood frozen in absolute shock, her hand hovering over the emergency call button. Arthur turned his head slightly toward Chloe, his firm expression softening.

"It's okay, I've got you," Arthur whispered comfortingly.
