A Soldier Defends His Crying Mother After His Cruel Wife Does the Unthinkable
The Unthinkable Welcome Home
Sergeant William Miller had spent eleven grueling months deployed overseas, dreaming of the quiet comfort of his childhood home in Ohio. He wanted nothing more than to feel the warm embrace of his mother, Irene, and his wife, Samantha. But as he quietly unlocked the front door, carrying his heavy duffel bag, the house was not filled with the aroma of a welcome-home dinner. Instead, the air was thick with tension, punctured by the harsh, screeching voice of his wife coming from the kitchen.
William dropped his bag silently onto the hallway rug, his heart sinking. He crept toward the wooden archway of the kitchen. Through the gap, he saw his elderly mother, Irene, sitting at the rustic wooden table. She was trembling, tears streaming down her deeply wrinkled cheeks, her hands clutching a worn cardigan. Standing over her like a predator was Samantha, her face contorted with unbridled malice.
"You are a useless burden, Irene!" Samantha spat, lifting a heavy ceramic plate piled high with leftover white rice. "I am tired of looking at your pathetic face!"
Before Irene could even whisper a plea, Samantha tilted the plate, dumping the cold, sticky rice directly onto the elderly woman's silver hair. "Take that, you old hag!" Samantha screamed, laughing maniacally as the grains scattered across Irene's face and onto the floor.
The sight shattered something inside William. The discipline of his military training evaporated, replaced by a raw, protective fury. He burst into the kitchen, his boots slamming against the linoleum.
"Oh, snap!" William roared, his voice booming like thunder.
Without thinking, he lunged forward and shoved Samantha away from his mother. The force of his seasoned, muscular frame sent the blonde woman flying backward. She crashed violently into the dining room partition wall, her body breaking right through the drywall. She landed on the living room floor in a heap of white dust and splintered wood, gasping for air as William stood over his weeping mother, his chest heaving.
