Richard sat in his wheelchair, staring out at the glittering Manhattan skyline. At forty-five, he had everything money could buy, except the one thing he desperately desired: the use of his legs. A car accident three years ago had left him paralyzed from the waist down. Doctors told him he would never walk again. He was dining at an exclusive penthouse restaurant, sipping expensive Merlot, when a shadow fell over his table.

It was a boy, no older than ten, wearing tattered clothes and covered in dirt. He didn't belong in a place like this.

"Sir," the boy whispered.

Richard smiled skeptically, looking at the child. "You? How did you get past security?"

The boy didn't answer. Instead, his eyes drifted down to Richard's lifeless legs.

"I can fix your leg."

Richard chuckled, taking another slow sip of his wine. He had spent millions on international specialists, experimental therapies, and spiritual healers. None of them had succeeded. "How long?" he asked, expecting a scam.

"A few seconds," the boy replied seriously.

Richard laughed out loud. The absurdity of it amused him.

"If you can do that, kid, I'll give you a million dollars."

Without a word, the boy knelt on the pristine marble floor. He reached out his small, dirty hands and touched Richard's bare foot, which had slipped out of his expensive loafer.

"Count," the boy said.

"This is ridiculous," Richard scoffed, trying to pull his foot away, but a strange, sudden warmth pinned him to the spot.

The boy closed his eyes and touched the boy's toes, counting softly,

"One, two. Stand up."

An intense, electric heat surged up Richard's spine. His toes twitched. He gasped, his grip tightening on his wine glass. Slowly, instinctively, he pushed himself upward. His knees locked. His feet planted firmly on the ground. He stood.

A nearby waiter gasped, dropping a tray of crystal glasses. The shattering sound echoed through the silent restaurant as Richard stood tall, staring down at his hands in absolute shock.
