Sergeant David Miller clutched his green duffel bag, his heart racing with anticipation as he stood on the porch of his childhood home. After a grueling twelve-month deployment overseas, all he wanted was to hug his elderly mother, Evelyn, and kiss his wife, Chloe. He hadn't called ahead, wanting to surprise them. But as he gently pushed the front door open, the warm scent of home was replaced by a chilling atmosphere that froze him in his tracks.

On the laminate wood floor of the living room, Evelyn was on her knees. Her fragile frame, clad in a faded beige cardigan, trembled as she scrubbed the floor with a ragged cloth. Sitting comfortably on the striped couch nearby was Chloe’s mother, Beatrice, sipping tea with an expression of cold indifference. Chloe’s harsh, mocking scream echoed through the room. Before David could even process the horror, Chloe lifted a mug of cold water and poured it directly over Evelyn’s head. The elderly woman gasped, shivering as the water soaked her thin hair. When Evelyn tried to wipe her eyes, Chloe brutally kicked her to the floor. Evelyn fell with a soft cry of pain.

Unsatisfied, Chloe leaned down, pressing the hard ceramic mug against Evelyn’s forehead, continuing her cruel, mocking laughter. David’s shock instantly transformed into a blinding, protective fury. Dropping his duffel bag, the soldier lunged forward. With a powerful, flying kick born of pure instinct, he struck Chloe, sending her crashing to the floor away from his mother. He stood protectively over Evelyn, his chest heaving, ready to destroy anyone who dared hurt her again.
