The air inside the indoor shooting range was thick with the scent of burnt gunpowder and the tense hum of competition. Dylan, a smug twenty-something wearing a neon-green jersey, stood at the center of attention, basking in the applause of the crowded gallery. He was the reigning local champion, and he knew it. But the atmosphere shifted when Irene, a seventy-two-year-old woman with silver hair pulled back into a neat ponytail, calmly walked up to the shooting line carrying a worn leather gear case.

"This isn't a retirement club, ma'am,"

Dylan sneered, prompting a wave of snickers from his friends in the gallery. Irene didn't flinch. She calmly slapped her identification card onto the registration counter and looked him dead in the eye.

"I came here to compete,"

she said, her voice steady and cold as steel.

Before Dylan could reply, Irene drew her pistol. In one fluid, lightning-fast motion, she raised the weapon and fired a rapid succession of perfect shots down the range. Every single bullet pierced the absolute center of the target. The gallery erupted. "Impossible!" someone shouted from the back. At the registration desk, Lawrence, an older official with rectangular glasses, stared at Irene's ID card. His hands began to tremble as he adjusted his spectacles. He looked up, his face pale.
