Previously: When Richard walked into his opulent estate early, he expected a peaceful evening. Instead, he found his beloved daughter Chloe on her knees, scrubbing the floor under his wife's cruel gaze.

A Father's Justice

Eleanor sneered, dropping her sweet facade entirely. She crossed her arms, looking at Richard with icy defiance.

"So she told you. What are you going to do about it, Richard? You need my family's backing. One phone call to my father, and your life's work is liquidated. You'll be ruined. So tell your pathetic daughter to get back to work."

For a moment, Eleanor looked triumphant. But Richard merely pulled a thin leather portfolio from his briefcase and tossed it onto the polished granite floor at her feet.

"You should have checked the stock market before you came home tonight, Eleanor,"
Richard said, his voice deadly calm.
"I finalized the buyout this afternoon. Your family no longer holds a single share in my company. I am the sole owner."

Eleanor's face drained of all color. She stared at the documents on the floor, her chest rising and falling in sudden panic.

"No... that's impossible,"
she whispered, her voice trembling.

"It is very possible,"
Richard replied.
"And now, you are going to pack your things and leave my house. If you ever come near my daughter again, I will release the security footage of how you treated her to the police. I'm sure the press would love to see how the great Eleanor Sterling treats her stepdaughter."

Realizing she had lost everything, Eleanor let out a bitter cry, grabbed her designer purse, and stormed out into the rainy night, leaving the heavy front doors swinging behind her. The silence that followed was peaceful.

Richard turned back to Chloe, pulling her up from the floor and wrapping his coat around her shoulders. He promised her that she would never have to cry in this house again. True wealth is not measured by the luxury of one's estate, but by the love and protection we provide for our family.
