A Dream Wedding Shattered

The Grand Plaza Ballroom was supposed to be a place of celebration, filled with the sweet scent of white roses and the soft hum of a harp. Instead, it had become the stage for Katherine’s worst nightmare. Dressed in a rose-gold gown, Katherine fell to her knees on the polished marble floor. Her heart shattered as she pulled her seven-year-old daughter, Bella, into her arms. Bella was trembling, her small face streaked with tears, and a trickle of fresh blood ran down from a nasty gash on her forehead.

"Mommy,"

Bella sobbed, burying her face into her mother’s chest. On the nearby table, a beautifully bound family photo album lay askew on a white lace runner, its edges stained with drops of crimson.

Standing just a few feet away was Adrian, the groom, looking immaculate but utterly heartless in his dark navy suit. Beside him stood his mother, Evelyn, her arms crossed and a look of pure disdain on her face. Adrian showed no remorse for the injured child. He sneered, looking down coldly at the mother and daughter.

"That's what happens when you raise a thief,"

Adrian said, his voice dripping with venom. He accused little Bella of stealing a priceless diamond brooch that belonged to his family, claiming she had slipped it into her pocket during the reception prep.

Bella looked up, her eyes wide with terror as she clutched Katherine’s hand.

"I didn't take it, I promise,"

she cried, her voice cracking. Katherine felt a wave of maternal fury surge through her veins. She knew her daughter would never steal. Looking closely at the gash on Bella's forehead, Katherine realized the injury had come from being violently shoved against the sharp edge of the display table.

Katherine slowly stood up, her eyes scanning the high, vaulted ceiling. There, nestled discreetly between the floral arrangements, was a black dome security camera. She glared back at Adrian, her voice cold as ice.

"You should have checked the CCTV before you touched my daughter,"

she said. Adrian’s smug expression instantly melted into sheer shock.
