A Nurse Stood Her Ground Against Angry Bikers, Revealing a Heartbreaking Medical Truth
Previously: When a group of angry bikers accused nurse Sarah of assaulting an elderly patient, she refused to back down. Little did they know, her quick actions were the only thing keeping the old man alive.
Sarah didn't let the biker's intimidating presence distract her from what truly mattered: the patient. She reached down and gently took Arthur’s hand, checking his pulse while looking directly at Marcus.
The True Emergency
"Your father is in severe diabetic shock," Sarah explained, her voice calm but urgent. "His blood sugar has plummeted to a dangerously low level. When I found him, his eyes were rolling back, and he was slipping out of consciousness. I had to perform a sternum rub—a hard, physical rub on his chest—to shock his nervous system and keep him awake. To a disoriented mind, it feels like a blow. But if I hadn't done it, he would have slipped into a coma right here in this corridor."
Marcus looked from Sarah to his father. Arthur was indeed shivering, his skin pale and clammy under his green canvas jacket. The elderly man’s eyes were glassy, staring blankly ahead as he muttered incoherent words. The tough exterior of the biker leader began to crack, replaced by a sudden, raw panic.
"He... he’s diabetic?" Marcus stammered, his voice losing its aggressive edge. "He never told us. He said he was just feeling tired lately."
"He was hiding it, which is common for patients who fear losing their independence," Sarah said, already preparing a fast-acting glucose injection from her cart. "But right now, his body is shutting down. I need to administer this immediately. If you keep blocking me, his brain will suffer permanent damage. I need you to trust me, Marcus."
The rest of the biker gang watched in stunned silence. The heavy-set men who had entered looking for a fight were now looking at Sarah with a mixture of awe and desperation. Marcus stared at the syringe in her hand, then at his fading father. He took a slow step back, clearing the path.
"Do it," Marcus whispered. "Please, save him."
