Previously: When Clara and Julian tried to deliver crucial evidence to the Capitol, a hostile officer used brutal force to stop them. But his aggression hid a dark family secret.

The Corrupt Badge Exposed

As Julian pulled Clara to her feet, she wiped a tear from her cheek and stared directly at the aggressive officer. His name tag read Officer Thomas Miller. Clara's breath hitched. She had never met Miller in person, but she knew his name all too well from her brother’s case files. Miller was the arresting officer who had fabricated the evidence against her brother to protect a powerful local politician.

Miller stepped closer, his eyes locking onto Clara’s briefcase. Clara realized with absolute certainty that Miller knew exactly what was inside that leather case: the original, unaltered surveillance footage that proved her brother’s innocence and exposed Miller's corruption.

"Hand over the bag,"

Miller demanded, his voice dropping to a low, menacing growl. He gripped his baton tighter, stepping into Julian’s personal space.

"This is official police business. Hand it over, or both of you are going to jail for obstructing justice."

Julian stood tall, stepping directly between the hostile officer and his terrified partner. His voice was steady, filled with a lawyer's quiet steel.

"We are delivering legally subpoenaed evidence to a federal oversight committee, Officer Miller. If you touch her, or that bag, you are committing a federal offense in front of dozens of witnesses."

Miller’s face flushed red with anger. He raised his hand to grab Julian's collar, but the second officer, Officer Andrews, finally intervened. Andrews had been watching the interaction with growing unease. He stepped between his partner and the couple, his hand resting cautiously on his utility belt.

"Tom, back off,"

Andrews warned quietly.

"This isn't protocol. What is going on here?"

Clara knew this was her only chance. With trembling fingers, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone, unlocking it with a swipe. She had one final card to play.
