Ever since the tragic accident two years ago, she had been confined to a wheelchair, told by her stepfather, Dr. David Vance, that she would never walk again. On this particular afternoon, Toby had set up a simple wooden chair and brought out a grey washbasin filled with warm water. He knelt on the soft grass before her, completely unbothered by the dirt staining his white crewneck shirt. Lily looked down at him, her long light-brown hair brushing against her shoulders, her heart aching with a mixture of love and sorrow.

A Spark of Hope

Toby gently lifted her right foot and placed it into the basin. He looked up, his eyes filled with an intense, unwavering devotion that always made Lily's chest tighten. Gently rubbing her feet, he whispered reassuringly:
