An Arrogant Heir Offered Me Fifty Thousand to Dance, Then My Secret Ruined Him
The Arrogant Proposal
The grand ballroom of the Beaumont Hotel was a sea of shimmering silk, expensive tuxedos, and the soft clinking of crystal glasses. Under the warm, amber glow of the massive chandeliers, the city’s elite gathered for the annual winter gala. Among them was Chloe, a young woman dressed in a neat, oversized gray catering uniform, quietly carrying a heavy silver tray loaded with champagne. Just three years ago, Chloe had been on track to become a professional ballroom dancer. But when her father fell critically ill, she had to abandon her dreams to pay off his mounting medical bills.
As Chloe approached the VIP table, she froze. Sitting there was Alex, her college sweetheart who had abandoned her the moment her family lost their fortune. Beside him sat Sarah, his wealthy fiancée, dressed in a shimmering metallic silver gown. Alex didn't even look at Chloe’s face as he took a glass. He was too busy entertaining his friends with his usual arrogant charm.
Suddenly, Alex noticed Chloe’s graceful posture. Seeking to amuse his guests, he stood up and blocked her path.
"If you can really dance, I'll dump her and marry you tonight,"he declared loudly. Sarah laughed, waving her hand dismissively.
"You're terrible, Alex,"she giggled.
Chloe kept her composure, but Alex wasn't finished. He pulled out a gold-embossed checkbook.
"Come on. I'll give you fifty thousand if you take the challenge,"he proposed, flashing a smug grin. Chloe looked at the checkbook. That money could save her father's life.
"I accept,"she said softly.
Ten minutes later, the grand double doors of the ballroom swung open. A collective gasp echoed through the room. Chloe stood at the entrance, transformed. Clad in a stunning, high-slit red satin gown borrowed from the charity auction wardrobe, her hair cascading in elegant waves, she looked like royalty. Alex’s jaw dropped. As she walked confidently toward him, his eyes widened in sheer shock.
"Wait. You..."he whispered, finally recognizing the girl he had once loved.
