Previously: A wedding day turns to ice and fury as a cruel groom's actions ignite a carpenter's paternal rage. Witness the shocking consequences when a father's love confronts a billionaire's hate on the steps of a cathedral.

A Carpenter's Legacy, A Daughter's Choice

The biting wind continued to swirl snowflakes around the cathedral steps, but the storm that had erupted moments before had settled into a tense, chilling silence. Isabella Moretti stood between her father and her fiancé, the weight of the moment pressing down on her. The pristine white of her wedding dress seemed to mock the ugliness that had unfolded. Carter Ross, still nursing his throbbing jaw, watched her, his eyes narrowed, a predatory glint returning as he attempted to salvage the situation, to reclaim his prize.

“Isabella, don’t listen to him. He’s clearly unstable. We need to get married. Now.”

Carter’s voice was strained, the forced charm failing to mask the underlying threat. He reached out a hand towards her, but Isabella flinched back, recoiling not just from his touch, but from the man he had revealed himself to be.

Salvatore watched his daughter, his heart aching but his resolve firm. He had done all he could. The rest was up to her. He saw the flicker of disgust in Isabella’s eyes as she looked at Carter, a disgust that mirrored his own.

“You hit him?” Isabella finally asked, her voice quiet but firm, addressing her father. Salvatore nodded, his gaze unwavering.

“He struck Samuel, Izzy. He called him a freak. He destroyed Samuel’s carving. He threatened me. He insulted you and our family. I couldn’t let it stand.”

Isabella took a deep breath, the cold air filling her lungs. She looked at Samuel, who was now leaning into Salvatore’s side, finding comfort in his father’s solid presence. His lip was beginning to swell, a visible testament to Carter’s brutality. Then she looked back at Carter, at the arrogance still clinging to him like a cheap cologne, the utter lack of remorse in his eyes.

“Samuel is my brother,” Isabella said, her voice gaining strength. “And you… you hurt him. You showed me who you really are, Carter. Not the man I thought I was marrying, but someone cruel and small.”

Carter scoffed, a humorless sound. “You’re throwing away a life of luxury for this? For your pathetic brother and your old carpenter father?”

Isabella walked past Carter, towards her father and brother. She placed a hand on Samuel’s arm, offering him a small, reassuring smile. Then, she turned back to face Carter, her expression resolute.

“I’m not throwing anything away, Carter. I’m choosing what has value. And right now, my family is the only thing that has value to me.”

She reached up and firmly grasped the delicate lace of her veil, pulling it away from her hair. Then, with a decisive movement, she unfastened the diamond necklace Carter had given her, letting it fall into Salvatore’s outstretched hand. The diamond glittered coldly in the lantern light.

“This wedding is over,”

Isabella stated, her voice clear and unwavering, echoing her father’s earlier pronouncement. “And so are we.”

She turned her back on the stunned billionaire, her arm around Samuel’s shoulders, and walked with her father towards the cathedral doors. As they disappeared inside, leaving Carter alone on the snow-dusted steps, Salvatore glanced back at the disgraced groom. He offered no pity, only the quiet satisfaction of a father who had defended his son and a man who had protected his daughter’s honor.

The true wealth, Salvatore knew, wasn't measured in cufflinks or Italian wool, but in the enduring strength of family love and the courage to stand up for what is right, no matter the cost.
