Previously: A wealthy doctor's sneering contempt for a humble colleague turns to terror when a medical emergency unfolds. But the real shock comes when the underdog saves the day, leaving the elite utterly disgraced.

The Crisis and The Contempt

Julian Vance, dripping with disdain, stopped directly in front of Tommy Hayes, his polished shoe hovering near Tommy’s mud-caked work boot. A sneer twisted his lips as he looked down his sharp nose. "Filthy mud boots in first class?" he spat, his voice laced with venom. "Country quacks don't belong in civilization!" As he delivered his insult, Ethan Mercer convulsed, sliding from his armchair onto the polished floor with a guttural gasp, froth appearing at his lips. Tommy remained silent, his jaw clenched, his piercing gaze fixed not on Julian, but on the dying teenager. Julian, his arrogance momentarily forgotten, panicked. He scrambled for the emergency defibrillator mounted on the wall, his hands trembling as he fumbled with the paddles.

"Massive cardiac arrest!" Julian shrieked, his voice cracking with frantic fear. "Clear! I'm delivering shock now!" But Tommy Hayes was already moving. He dropped to one knee beside Ethan, his calloused fingers expertly finding the boy's carotid artery. He paused, glancing at Ethan's convulsing form, then gently peeled back the boy's eyelid. The pupils were pinpoint, unreactive. This was no cardiac arrest. While Julian fumbled with the defibrillator, Tommy saw the true danger. He remained silent, his stoic demeanor a stark contrast to Julian’s rising panic. The air crackled with unspoken tension as the storm raged outside, mirroring the turmoil within the luxurious lounge.

"Shock him and his heart ruptures—that’s blue-ring octopus neurotoxin from the coastal shipment!" Tommy’s voice boomed, cutting through Julian’s panicked shouts.

As Julian violently lunged forward with the charged paddles, Tommy’s arm shot out with lightning speed. His hand clamped onto Julian’s wrist in an iron grip, the impact echoing through the lounge. The force of the redirection sent the paddles crashing against the marble baseboard, Julian stumbling backward, off balance and stunned. His eyes widened in paralyzed shock as he felt the crushing strength in Tommy’s grip. His breath hitched, his throat suddenly dry. The smug arrogance had vanished, replaced by a dawning horror.
