Previously: When a smug young competitor mocked 65-year-old Diane at the shooting range, he thought it was an easy win. But her perfect score and a shocking name on the register changed everything.

The Legend Returns

George's voice trembled as he spoke into the microphone, his words echoing across the silent range.

"Ladies and gentlemen... this is Diane Vance. The 'Silver Bullet' of the 1982 Olympic team."
A collective gasp swept through the gallery. Decades ago, Diane had been an international sensation, setting world records that still stood today. She was a legend who had abruptly vanished from the public eye after a devastating tragedy—the sudden passing of her husband and coach, Arthur. She had walked away from the sport, vowing never to pick up a competitive firearm again.

Ryan's face flushed with a mix of embarrassment and anger. He couldn't accept that an elderly woman had just outshone him, let alone a retired relic of the past.

"I don't care who she used to be!"
Ryan snapped, stepping forward.
"That was decades ago. The sport has changed, and she got lucky. If she's really a legend, let's see her prove it in a direct, sudden-death shootout. Unless, of course, she's too fragile to handle the pressure."

The crowd murmured, waiting for Diane's response. George looked worriedly at Diane, knowing the emotional weight she carried. The range they stood in had actually been co-founded by Arthur, and it was currently facing demolition by a wealthy development firm represented by Ryan's own father. Diane had returned not for fame, but to win the tournament's grand prize—the deed to the land, which the founders had legally bound to the winner of the Founder's Cup. She looked at Ryan, her eyes reflecting the steel of her pistol.

"You think youth is an advantage, Ryan,"
Diane said softly.
"But youth lacks the patience of experience. I accept your challenge."
