Previously: A cruel professor shatters a young artist's dreams, only for the art world's elite to witness his cruelty and offer an unthinkable lifeline. This is the story of Clara Evans.

A Glimmer of Hope in the Gutters

Gregory Thorne didn't stop at destruction; his cruelty demanded humiliation. He callously kicked the tattered remains of Clara’s canvas into the murky gutter, the expensive oil pigments bleeding into the dirty water like open wounds. He sneered down at her, a triumphant predator. "Expelled, disowned, and completely worthless—clear your trash off my sidewalk before I have security throw you in jail!" Clara, still kneeling, curled her trembling fingers into fists on the wet stones. Her jaw clenched, her chin quivered, and a silent scream of heartbreak threatened to tear from her throat. A single, hot tear carved a path through the dried titanium white paint dust on her cheek, a stark contrast to the cold, indifferent rain. She was utterly alone, abandoned by the institution she had poured her soul into.

Just as despair threatened to consume her, the sound of expensive engines broke the somber atmosphere. Two sleek black Maybach limousines screeched to a halt, their tires sending plumes of water into the air. From them emerged two figures who seemed out of place in this grim scene: Madame Vance, the elegant Chief Curator of the Louvre, and Lord Sterling, the formidable Chairman of Sotheby's. They rushed towards Clara, their urgency palpable. "Stop right there!" Madame Vance’s voice was breathless, cutting through Thorne’s smug satisfaction. "Are you Clara Evans, the reclusive prodigy who painted the 'Resurrection of Light' collection?" Thorne froze, his arrogant smirk replaced by a mask of utter confusion. Clara, still reeling, could only stare. Madame Vance, without a second thought for her designer coat, dropped to her knees beside Clara. With trembling reverence, she lifted a scrap of the ruined canvas, her eyes alight with a mixture of awe and distress. She then produced an official dossier, her voice filled with a reverence that Thorne had never shown. "The Louvre and Sotheby's have formed an emergency syndicate offering ten million dollars cash to acquire your entire private catalog!" Thorne stood, petrified, his face draining of color. Clara could only gasp, her hand flying to her collarbone, stunned tears spilling over her blushing cheeks.
