A Canvas of Dreams, Torn Apart

The air in Le Gabriel, a Parisian jewel box of a restaurant, was thick with the scent of expensive perfume and hushed reverence. Gilded mirrors reflected the flickering candlelight, turning the room into a dazzling, almost dreamlike space. Crystal glasses gleamed on dark mahogany, catching the warm amber glow. This was the sanctuary of the elite, a place where art and influence mingled effortlessly. Tonight, however, the whispers were punctuated by a growing tension, centered on a young man with eyes that held the weariness of too many sleepless nights spent chasing a vision.

Liam, a painter whose talent was as raw and untamed as his wind-tousled hair, sat across from Damian Knox, the dean of the prestigious art academy. Liam, clad in a slightly paint-splattered velvet blazer that whispered of bohemian struggles, felt a tremor run through him as Knox’s predatory gaze fixed on the portrait laid between them. Knox, a man sculpted from sharp angles and cold ambition, was immaculate in his bespoke suit, a sneer playing on his lips. He reached out, his fingers, adorned with a heavy gold signet ring, tracing the edges of Liam’s work. The painting was of Liam’s mother, a vibrant, loving depiction that held his heart. Knox’s lip curled further.

"You have zero talent, Liam—your little scribbles belong in the trash."

With a sudden, violent motion, Knox grabbed the canvas. The sound that followed was visceral, a loud, sickening tear as the fabric ripped down the middle. Fragments of Liam's soul, captured in oil paint, fluttered down, landing in the deep red pool of Burgundy wine in Liam's glass, splashing crimson across the pristine white linen. Liam could only watch, paralyzed, his breath catching in his throat. A single tear escaped, tracing a path down his pale cheek, mirroring the violent quivering of his lower lip. His amber eyes widened, reflecting a heartbreak so profound it felt like a physical wound.
