Previously: When an arrogant private banker tried to throw an elderly woman out of his exclusive wing, he had no idea she held the master key to his entire career—and the bank itself.

William's heart hammered against his ribs. The red flashing alert on his screen didn't make sense. Level-five clearance was reserved for the bank’s original founders—people who hadn't stepped foot in this branch in decades. He convinced himself that this woman had to be a sophisticated corporate spy using a cloned device. Panic overriding his training, he grabbed his desk radio.

"Security to the private wing! Code red! We have an intruder trying to breach the vault!"

The Trap Sprung

Within moments, three armed guards burst into the hall, forming a tense semi-circle around Evelyn. William pointed a trembling finger.

"Detain her! She has a counterfeit security device and is trying to bypass the executive elevator!"

Evelyn stood perfectly still, her expression unbothered. She knew that the branch manager, Mr. Sterling, would recognize her immediately. But before Sterling could arrive, the private elevator doors slid open, and a man in a tailored navy suit stepped out.

It was Julian, Evelyn’s estranged nephew and a junior partner on the bank's board. For months, Julian had been trying to declare Evelyn mentally incompetent to seize control of her remaining shares. Seeing his aunt surrounded by security, a cruel, triumphant smile spread across his face.

"Well, well, Aunt Evelyn,"
Julian said, his voice echoing in the marble hall.
"I told the board your mind was slipping. Now we have proof of you trespassing and attempting to breach bank security. This is the end of the road for you."

William looked from Julian to Evelyn, a smug sense of relief washing over him. He had just helped a powerful board member catch an impostor—or so he thought. Julian turned to the guards.

"Take her bag. Let's see what else she's trying to steal from us."

Evelyn clutched her worn leather handbag tightly. Inside was the original deed to the bank's land and her husband's final testament, which legally barred Julian from ever inheriting a single share. If they took the bag, Julian would destroy the documents, and she would lose everything.
