Previously: At her 22nd birthday gala, paralyzed Lily is approached by a barefoot stranger who promises to make her walk. But his presence uncovers a devastating family secret.

The ballroom erupted into a flurry of hushed whispers. Arthur lunged forward, grabbing Leo by the collar of his rugged shirt. "Get your hands off her! Guards, throw this lunatic out!" he roared, his face flushed with a mixture of rage and terror. Two burly security guards rushed into the circle of light, but Lily’s voice stopped them cold.

"Wait," Lily whispered, her grip tightening on Leo’s hand. "Father, let him speak."

"Lily, he’s a fraud! He’s mocking your condition!" Arthur pleaded, his voice cracking. But there was a desperate panic in Arthur's eyes that went far beyond protective fatherly anger.

Leo stood up slowly, looking Arthur dead in the eye. He didn't look like a trespasser anymore; he looked like a judge. "I am no fraud, Arthur," Leo said, his voice echoing in the silent hall. "But there is a fraud in this room. And he has been keeping your daughter in this chair for five long years."

The guests gasped. Arthur’s hand trembled as he let go of Leo’s collar. "You know nothing about us," Arthur hissed.

"I know everything," Leo replied calmly. "My father was Thomas Vance, the mechanic who worked on your car the night of the crash. You blamed him for the brake failure to cover up your own negligence. You were drunk, Arthur. You forced him to sign a confession, threatening to ruin his family if he didn't take the fall. He died in prison of a broken heart."

Lily stared at her father, her face turning pale. "Father... is this true? You told me the mechanic admitted to being careless."

Leo turned back to Lily. "Your paralysis isn't from a broken spine, Lily. The doctors found no physical damage. Your mind locked your legs because your subconscious couldn't bear the guilt of surviving an accident your father caused. He made you believe a lie to protect his status. He locked you in this chair."
