A Desperate Cry in the Twilight

The roar of Cole’s motorcycle engine cut through the quiet, suffocating air of the suburban neighborhood. The sun was dipping below the horizon, casting long, dark shadows across the manicured lawns. As Cole rounded the corner, his headlights caught a heartbreaking sight: a young boy kneeling on the asphalt of a driveway, sobbing uncontrollably. Cole didn't hesitate. He skidded his heavy bike to a halt, the tires screaming against the pavement.

Before the kickstand even settled, Cole leaped off. He rushed toward the boy, Bobby, whose face was streaked with dirt and tears. Bobby looked up, his eyes wide with terror. He grabbed Cole’s leather jacket, pleading desperately.

"Please, please help my mom!"

The raw panic in the child's voice struck a chord deep within Cole. His protective instincts, forged through years of tough living, took over. He placed his heavy hands on Bobby's trembling shoulders and looked him dead in the eye.

"Stay behind me,"

Cole commanded, his voice a low, steady growl. Without waiting, he charged up the concrete steps toward the front door. But before he could reach the handle, the door swung open. A man named Derek stood there, his blue shirt wrinkled, his face twisted in a sneer of pure hostility. He blocked the entryway, puffing out his chest.

"What the hell do you want?"

Derek yelled, trying to intimidate the biker. Cole didn't waste words. With a powerful shove, he sent Derek stumbling backward into the dim hallway. Cole stormed inside, his boots thudding against the hardwood floor. He kicked open a door to the bathroom and found Clara, Bobby’s mother, weeping on the cold tile floor. Cole knelt beside her, his rough demeanor softening.

"Easy, I got you,"

he whispered, helping her up. He guided her outside, where Bobby rushed to hug her. Cole stood protectively over them, staring back at Derek with a warning: "Try it again."
