The Echo of a Dangerous Past
The air grew thick with tension as Leo’s arrogant smirk began to fade. He looked at Jack’s broad shoulders and the fierce determination in the older man’s eyes, suddenly realizing he had severely underestimated his opponent. Marcus, however, tightened his grip on Chloe, using her as a human shield.
"Don't take another step!" Marcus screamed, his voice echoing off the chain-link fences. "We know who you are, Jack! We know about the Iron Reapers, and we know about the money!"
The words hit Chloe like a physical blow. She looked at her father, her eyes wide with a mixture of terror and confusion. "Dad, what is he talking about?" she sobbed. For years, Jack had kept his distance, telling her it was for her own safety, but she had never understood why. Now, the dark truth was staring her in the face. Jack’s past as the president of a notorious motorcycle club had finally caught up to him, and Chloe was the target.
Leo stepped closer to Marcus, regaining his bravado. "That's right, old man. Your old associate, Silas, sent us. He says you owe a debt from ten years ago, and he’s ready to collect. Either you hand over the deed to your garage, or your precious daughter pays the price."
Jack stood perfectly still, his mind racing. He knew Silas was a ruthless snake who would gladly hurt an innocent girl to settle a petty grudge. But Jack also knew something these two young punks didn't. He looked past Marcus, catching the eye of a figure sitting on a heavy chopper parked just outside the court’s gate. With a subtle nod of Jack's head, the low rumble of three more motorcycle engines began to echo in the distance, slowly surrounding the park.
"You boys are out of your depth," Jack said calmly. "You're holding my daughter because of a lie."
