A Rough Biker Defends A Shoved Teenager And Uncovers A Haunting Family Secret
Previously: When a rugged biker steps in to stop a schoolyard bully from tormenting a quiet teenager, he spots a familiar family heirloom that changes everything he thought he knew about his past.
A Relic from the Past
Terrified by the biker's imposing presence, Chase scrambled backward, dropped the watch onto the wet asphalt, and bolted toward the school doors. The courtyard fell silent again, save for the steady patter of rain. Marcus sighed, his tough exterior softening slightly as he walked over to Cole, who was still trembling on the damp ground. Marcus reached down, offering a calloused, gloved hand to help the young man up.
Cole took it hesitantly, pulling his hood over his wet brunette hair. "Thanks," Cole muttered, his voice shaking. "I could have handled it, but... thanks."
Marcus didn't answer immediately. Instead, his eyes locked onto the silver watch lying in the puddle. He knelt down and picked it up, wiping the water from its scratched glass face. As his thumb brushed over the back of the casing, his entire body went rigid. He turned the watch over to reveal an engraving: "To Sarah, Forever My North Star - M."
Marcus felt the air leave his lungs. He looked up at Cole, searching the boy's face with sudden, intense desperation. He saw the shape of the jaw, the deep green of the eyes—features he had spent eighteen years trying to forget.
"Where did you get this watch?"
Marcus asked, his voice suddenly cracking, stripped of all its previous authority.
Cole looked defensive, stepping back toward his backpack. "It was my mother's. She passed away last year. She told me it belonged to my father, a man I never met. Why do you care?"
Marcus stood up slowly, his heart hammering against his ribs. The tough, silent biker looked as though he had just seen a ghost. The puzzle pieces of a painful past were suddenly falling into place right here in the schoolyard.
