Previously: When an eight-year-old boy ran into a rough biker bar begging for help, the owner was ready to kick him out—until the child revealed his father's legendary name.

The Storm Arrives

The heavy iron bolts slid into place just as the roar of high-powered engines echoed outside. The bikers inside the Rusty Anvil, seasoned men who feared almost nothing, scrambled to secure the windows. Weston grabbed Liam by the shoulders and shoved him behind the heavy oak bar, kneeling down to look the boy in the eye.

"Listen to me, kid," Weston whispered, his gravelly voice filled with an urgency Liam had never heard before. "You stay down here. No matter what you hear, you do not look up. Do you understand?"

Liam nodded rapidly, clutching his father’s gold coin tightly against his chest. Outside, the screech of tires signaled the arrival of their pursuers. A moment later, a heavy fist pounded on the reinforced double doors. The wood groaned under the force.

Weston drew a heavy, silver revolver from his waistband, his heart hammering against his ribs. He knew what that coin meant. It was a marker of an old debt, a blood oath that could never be broken. Years ago, the legendary Baba Yaga had spared Weston's life under the condition that if anyone ever brought this coin to him, he would protect them with his life. He never expected that person to be a terrified eight-year-old boy.

"Open the door, Weston!" a cold, cultured voice shouted from outside. "We know the boy is in there. Hand him over, and the High Table will overlook your harbor."

Weston spat on the floor. He signaled to his men, who lined up behind the pool tables, shotguns raised and ready. The tension in the room was thick enough to cut with a knife.

"I don't know what you're talking about!" Weston yelled back, his voice booming. "This is private property. Turn around before things get ugly."

A second of agonizing silence followed. Then, the heavy wooden doors shattered inward in an explosion of splinters and gunfire. Three heavily armed men in sleek, tactical suits rushed through the smoke, weapons raised. The bar erupted into chaos as Weston's crew returned fire, the deafening roar of shotguns filling the dusty air.
