The Standoff Escalates

The tension in the supermarket aisle was thick enough to cut with a knife. Other shoppers stopped in their tracks, watching the confrontation unfold from a safe distance. Gary took a step forward, his fists clenched, trying to use his height to intimidate Marcus, but the biker stood like an immovable stone wall.

Marcus didn't budge. Instead, he slowly knelt down on one knee, keeping his massive body positioned as a shield between Gary and the sobbing child. He looked directly into Chloe's tear-filled eyes, softening his deep voice as much as he could.

Hearing the whisper, Gary lunged forward, reaching out a hand to grab Chloe's arm. But Marcus was faster. In a fraction of a second, the burly biker stood up, his massive chest blocking Gary's path entirely.

Touch her, and we are going to have a very different kind of problem,
Marcus warned, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper that made Gary freeze in his tracks.
