Previously: When a ruthless security guard throws a starving boy out into the freezing rain, a rugged biker notices the silver locket he dropped—and recognizes a secret from his own past.

A Father's Promise

The realization hit Jace like a physical blow. When Clara had left him during a dark period of his life, he had no idea she was pregnant. By the time he had turned his life around, she had vanished into the foster care and shelter systems, leaving no paper trail. He had spent years riding the highways, searching every diner, town, and shelter, never knowing that his son was out there, struggling to survive.

Mason, realizing he had crossed a line, began to stammer. "Look, I was just doing my job..." he muttered, stepping back toward the diner doors.

Jace turned a fierce, protective gaze toward the guard.

"If you ever touch my son again, you'll answer to me,"
Jace growled, his voice low and dangerous. Mason paled, quickly retreating inside and locking the door behind him.

Jace turned back to Lucas, his tough exterior completely melting away. He wrapped his heavy leather jacket around the boy’s shivering shoulders and pulled him into a fierce, warm embrace.

"I've been looking for you for ten years, son,"
Jace whispered, his voice cracking.
"You're not going to be hungry anymore. You're coming home with me."

Lucas clung to his father, the warmth of the jacket and the embrace finally chasing away the bitter cold. They walked together toward Jace's motorcycle parked under the neon glow, leaving the dark, lonely highway behind them. In the end, a mother's dying wish and a tiny silver locket had guided a lost boy straight into the arms of the father he never knew he had.
