A Biker’s Shocking Reaction to a Girl’s Hidden Tattoo Changes Her Life Forever
Previously: When twenty-year-old Sadie walked into a dusty highway diner and revealed a secret tattoo on her arm, she didn't expect the hardened bikers inside to react with such immediate, protective fury.
The Past Catches Up
Sadie’s legs felt like lead, but the raw urgency in Gage’s voice propelled her backward toward the diner’s kitchen exit. Before she could push through the swinging double doors, the high-beam headlights of a black SUV swept through the dusty windows, casting long, menacing shadows across the teal booths. The tires screeched to a halt on the gravel outside. Sadie froze, her breath catching in her throat. She knew exactly who was in that vehicle.
Duke stood up, his weathered face hardening as he joined Gage at the front of the diner. "Is that Miller?" Duke muttered, his hand instinctively drifting toward the heavy wrench tucked into his belt. Gage nodded grimly, his chest rising and falling. He kept his body positioned firmly between Sadie and the front entrance.
"Why are they hunting you, kid?" Gage asked quietly, not breaking his gaze from the front door. "That tattoo belongs to Marcus 'Ghost' Vance. He was our brother. He died five years ago. We thought his family disappeared."
"I'm his daughter," Sadie whispered, her voice trembling but clear. "My father didn't die in an accident. He was silenced because he found out Deputy Miller was running a smuggling ring through the county. Before my dad died, he gave me a ledger. I've been running with it ever since. Miller found my apartment, and now he's followed me here."
The diner door flew open with a violent crash, the little brass bell jingling frantically. Deputy Miller stepped inside, his uniform immaculate but his face twisted in a cold, arrogant sneer. Two heavily armed deputies flanked him. Miller's eyes scanned the room, resting immediately on Sadie's trembling form behind the two towering bikers.
"Step aside, boys," Miller said, his hand resting on his holster. "The girl is coming with me. She's wanted for grand theft, and you don't want to get charged with harboring a fugitive."
Gage didn't flinch. He took a slow step forward, his shadow engulfing the deputy.
