The Biker's Ultimate Debt to the World's Most Feared Assassin
The Boy and the Golden Coin
The heavy oak doors of the Rusty Spoke swung open with a violent crash, letting in a blinding shaft of desert sunlight and a swirling cloud of dust. The bikers inside, hardened men with scarred faces and leather vests, reached instinctively for their holsters. But the intruder wasn't a rival gang. It was a boy. He couldn't have been more than ten years old, his face smudged with dirt, his breathing ragged, and his torn denim shirt soaked in sweat.
Toby scanned the dimly lit room with wide, terrified eyes before locking onto Silas. Silas was a mountain of a man, bald and heavily tattooed, sitting at a corner table with a bottle of whiskey. The boy sprinted toward him, his small sneakers skidding on the floorboards, and grabbed the giant outlaw's leather-clad arm.
"Please. Help me," Toby gasped, his voice cracking with pure terror.
Silas looked down at the tiny hand on his sleeve, his eyes narrowing. He wasn't a man accustomed to weakness, but there was something raw and deeply familiar in the boy's desperate gaze. Silas's voice rumbled, deep and gravelly:
"Who's after you, kid?"
Toby looked back at the doors, panting.
"They're coming. They've been tracking me for miles."
Silas frowned, his massive shoulders tensing.
"Why here? Out of all the places in this desert, why did you run to my bar?"
Toby looked up earnestly, tears finally welling in his eyes.
"My father told me... he said if I was ever in real trouble, if the shadows ever caught up, I had to find Silas. He said you were the only one who could keep me safe."
Silas leaned in closer, a sudden chill running down his spine.
"What's his name, boy?"
The room seemed to fall dead silent as Toby leaned in and whispered the name.
"John Wick."
Silas froze. The color drained from his rugged face.
"No. That's impossible,"he muttered. He slowly opened Toby's small, dirty hand and pressed a heavy, gleaming gold continental coin into his palm. Silas stood up abruptly, his chair scraping loudly against the floor. He turned to his men and roared,
"Lock the doors! Get the weapons! Now!"
โGet the weapons! Now!"
