Sophie walked toward them, her boots clicking softly on the polished tiles. She looked up at Richard, then back at the girls. "Okay," she whispered. She approached Chloe first, the older sister, who stared blankly ahead. Slowly, gently, Sophie reached out her small hand, her fingers trembling slightly in the warm air.
