Previously: A decade ago, Victoria Sterling ruined Martha Vance's life. Now, Martha returns not for revenge, but for a reckoning that will expose Victoria's deepest secrets and shatter her world.

An Unexpected Retaliation

Victoria Sterling, incensed by Martha’s unnerving silence, took a step forward, her emerald gown rustling. The air crackled with tension as she lunged, her hand swinging with vicious intent, aiming to slap Martha across the face. It was a move born of pure, unadulterated spite, a reflex honed by years of unchallenged cruelty. But before her hand could connect, the impossible happened. A towering figure, a federal Secret Service agent in a crisp charcoal suit, moved with blinding speed. His firm grip intercepted Victoria’s wrist mid-swing, the authentic impact a sharp slap of leather on skin that jerked her shoulder back. In that same instant, three armored black presidential Suburbans screeched to a halt outside the restaurant, their pulsing red and blue emergency lights washing over the opulent interior in dramatic, disorienting flashes.

“Step back from the Director immediately, ma’am!”

The agent’s voice boomed with authority. Victoria froze, her gasp hitching in her throat, her eyes wide with paralyzed shock as terror flooded her face. She was no longer in control. The hushed whispers of the restaurant patrons turned to gasps of awe and fear as four more heavily armed Secret Service agents, tactical and imposing, advanced into the dining room, securing the perimeter with practiced efficiency. Wealthy diners froze, their conversations silenced. Lead Agent Hayes, marching forward with military precision, snapped his heels together and presented a gold presidential commission badge to Martha.

“Director Vance, the presidential motorcade is secured, and the White House Situation Room is patched through for your emergency intelligence briefing.”

Victoria Sterling watched, her world tilting on its axis. Her hands began to tremble uncontrollably, her chin quivering as all color drained from her cheeks. The arrogant bully, accustomed to wielding power like a weapon, was witnessing the ultimate, devastating reversal.
