The tiny click was lost in the roar of the storm, but its effect was immediate. Gregory’s lawyers exchanged uneasy glances. The departure monitor, a colossal 98-inch screen usually displaying flight information, flickered violently. Then, crystal clear, it broadcast a scene that made Gregory freeze mid-lunge. His lawyers, pale and suddenly very eager to distance themselves, dropped their briefcases with a clatter.

“Turn that off! You don't know who I am—lawyers, tell them it's doctored!”

His voice was a shrill, stammering panic. But his lawyers remained conspicuously silent, hands raised in surrender. I rose slowly, the teddy bear still clutched to my chest. The tears on my cheeks glistened, but my expression was one of calm, righteous resolve. The storm outside raged, but within the lounge, a different kind of reckoning had begun.
