A Night of Humiliation and a Father's Fury

The air in Le Grand Céleste, Paris’s most exclusive restaurant, was thick with the scent of aged Bordeaux and burning tallow. Towering beeswax candelabras dripped amber light onto dark mahogany tables, reflecting in the crystal glasses and the polished parquet floors. Rain traced patterns down the leaded glass windows, muffling the sounds of the city outside. Inside, the murmur of the elite and the clinking of silverware created a hushed symphony. It was here, amidst this opulence, that I, Elena Moretti, a scholarship student working as a server, had my world violently shattered.

Armand Dubois, the billionaire heir, was a vision of entitled arrogance. His blonde hair slicked back, his charcoal velvet dinner jacket impeccable, he radiated a chilling sense of superiority. I approached his table, my heart pounding a nervous rhythm against my ribs. My uniform, a starched white shirt and a frayed apron, felt like a badge of my perceived inferiority in this gilded cage. As I leaned in to pour his wine, my foot slipped on the gleaming oak floor. A small, almost imperceptible misstep, but it was enough. The Baccarat goblet tilted, a splash of deep red wine marring the pristine table.

The reaction was instantaneous. Armand rose, his face a mask of venomous disgust. Before I could utter a word of apology, his hand shot out. The sharp, wet crack of his open palm striking my face echoed through the restaurant, silencing the room. The force of the blow sent my head snapping sideways, my body stumbling backward. I crashed onto the hard floor, the sound of shattering crystal a sharp counterpoint to the ringing in my ears. My cheek throbbed, a fiery imprint already blooming. Through a haze of shock and pain, I heard his sneering voice, dripping with contempt: "Learn your place beneath my feet, clumsy peasant!"

He stood over me, his shadow engulfing me. His eyes held no trace of empathy, only cold amusement. "Beg for my forgiveness right now, or you leave here in handcuffs!" he taunted, his voice laced with cruel laughter. Tears welled, blurring the glittering shards of glass around me. My breath hitched, a ragged gasp in the sudden, horrified silence of the restaurant. Just as despair threatened to consume me, a new presence filled the space. Heavy, purposeful footsteps. A towering figure emerged, his presence commanding the room. My father, Salvatore Moretti, had arrived.
