Previously: When a tattered young man interrupted an elite Manhattan gala claiming he could cure a paralyzed billionaire in seconds, everyone laughed. But then he touched the man's foot.

The Shock of a Lifetime

The entire penthouse fell into a suffocating silence. Victoria’s glass of champagne slipped from her fingers, shattering on the marble floor. She didn't even look down. Her eyes, like everyone else's in the room, were glued to Thomas’s right foot. The toes, which had been completely motionless for over a decade, were wiggling.

Thomas gripped the armrests of his high-tech robotic wheelchair so tightly his knuckles turned white. Tears welled in his eyes as a wave of intense heat rushed through his legs. For ten years, he had lived in a sensory void from the waist down. Now, he could feel the cold draft of the air conditioning on his skin. He could feel the pressure of his own weight.

"What did you do to me?" Thomas whispered, his voice trembling with a mixture of awe and terror. "Who are you?"

Caleb slowly stood up, wiping his dirty hands on his tattered jacket. His expression was no longer that of a desperate beggar, but of a man who had just delivered a long-overdue reckoning.

"My name is Caleb Vance," the young man said, his voice echoing clearly across the silent lounge. "Does that name ring a bell, Thomas?"

Thomas’s face drained of all color. He looked at Caleb’s eyes, suddenly recognizing the sharp, brilliant gaze of a man he had tried very hard to forget.

"Julian's son..." Thomas breathed, his voice barely audible.
"Yes," Caleb replied, stepping closer. "My father, Dr. Julian Vance, was the brilliant neuroscientist who actually designed the neural-bypass technology in this very wheelchair. You stole his patents, ruined his reputation, and left him to die in absolute poverty. You built your entire empire on his stolen genius."

Victoria gasped, looking between Thomas and the young man in disbelief. Thomas tried to deny it, but his shaking hands betrayed him.

"I didn't steal—" Thomas started, but Caleb cut him off.
"My father built a hidden biomechanical bypass into the prototype," Caleb explained. "A physical manual override that only he knew how to trigger. I didn't perform a miracle tonight, Thomas. I just unlocked what was always yours, using my father's secret sequence."
