Previously: A cruel passenger mocks a blind boy on a luxury flight. But when a quiet billionaire steps in, the bully's world crumbles — and a child's dream takes flight.

The plane landed back in New York with a jolt, and the cabin was filled with the murmur of confused passengers. Security guards boarded, and I recognized one of them as the man who had escorted Julian off the plane hours earlier.

“Mr. Castellano,” he said, his voice low. “The authorities are asking to speak with you.”

Rafael nodded, his face grim. He turned to me. “Stay with Leo. I’ll handle this.”

“No,” I said, surprising myself. “I’m coming with you.”

He hesitated, then nodded. “Okay.”

We were led to a private room in the terminal. Julian was there, flanked by lawyers in expensive suits. He had a smug look on his face that made my blood boil.

“Well, well,” he drawled. “The little family that cried wolf.”

Rafael ignored him and addressed the officer in charge. “What’s the charge?”

“Mr. Thorne has accused you of assault,” the officer said, “and of using your position to illegally blacklist him from your airline.”

Rafael didn’t flinch. “I see. And does Mr. Thorne have any evidence?”

Julian grinned. “I have witnesses. The flight attendants. The pilot. They all saw you threaten me.”

My heart sank. The flight attendants had seemed sympathetic, but they were employees. They would do what their boss said.

But Rafael just smiled. “Then I have a question for you, Mr. Thorne. Do you know who I am?”

Julian laughed. “You’re the owner of the airline. Big deal.”

“That’s right,” Rafael said. “And I’m also the largest shareholder in Thorne Capital Partners.”

Julian’s face went white. “What?”

“I’ve held a 34% stake in your company for the past three years,” Rafael said, pulling out his phone. “Which means I have the power to remove you from the board. And that’s exactly what I’m going to do.”

The room fell silent. Julian’s lawyers exchanged panicked looks.

“You can’t do that,” Julian sputtered. “That’s—that’s insider trading.”

“No,” Rafael said. “It’s called due diligence. And I have the documents to prove it.”

He turned to the officer. “You should know that Mr. Thorne has a history of filing frivolous lawsuits. I have evidence of at least three other incidents like this one, all of which were dismissed.”

The officer nodded slowly. “We’ll need to see that evidence.”

“You’ll have it,” Rafael said. “But first, I’d like to make a request.”

“What’s that?”

Rafael looked at me, then at Leo, who was standing in the doorway with Sunny.

“I’d like to formally adopt this family,” he said. “If they’ll have me.”

I felt my knees go weak. “What?”

Rafael smiled, and for the first time, I saw vulnerability in his eyes. “I lost my daughter five years ago. And I’ve been searching for something to fill that void ever since. When I saw Leo, I saw her. And I realized I don’t want to be alone anymore.”

Leo, who had been listening, stepped forward. “Does that mean you’ll be my daddy?”

Rafael knelt down, his eyes glistening. “If you want me to, yes.”

Leo’s face broke into a radiant smile. “Yes.”

I started crying, and I couldn’t stop. Julian was led out of the room, his career in ruins, but I barely noticed. All I saw was the man who had saved my son, offering us a future I never dared to dream of.

As we walked back onto the plane, this time to a suite that felt like home, Leo reached out and took Rafael’s hand.

“Mr. Rafael,” he said. “Can you teach me to fly?”

Rafael laughed, a warm sound that filled the cabin. “I can teach you to touch the sky.”

And in that moment, I knew that some gifts weren’t the ones you bought. They were the ones you earned.

We took off again, and I watched Leo press his face to the window, tracing the clouds with his fingers, his smile as bright as the sun. Rafael stayed by his side, whispering stories about the stars.

And I knew, finally, that we were home.
