Previously: A drunken billionaire heir assaults a catering student, only to face the wrath of her hidden protector. This isn't just about a slap; it's about a father's fierce love and a dark secret revealed.

Part 2: The Unraveling Truth

The chaos in the ballroom was palpable. Guests, their champagne forgotten, whispered and pointed, a mix of shock and morbid fascination on their faces. Armand Dubois, the arrogant heir, lay groaning on the floor, his velvet tuxedo stained with champagne and his pride shattered. My father, David, stood tall, a bulwark of quiet authority amidst the pandemonium. The arrival of more security, alerted by the commotion, did little to intimidate him. He met their wary gazes with an unblinking steeliness, his presence radiating a calm control that unnerved them more than Armand’s tantrum had.

“Tell Dubois his commanding officer has arrived.”

My father’s words hung in the air, heavy with unspoken meaning. The lead security guard, a burly man with a wary expression, hesitated. He recognized my father’s presence, the quiet strength that belied his unassuming uniform. “Who are you?” the guard finally asked, his voice tight with apprehension.

“David Holloway,” my father replied, his gaze unwavering. “And I believe Mr. Dubois here has some explaining to do. Perhaps to my lawyer. Or perhaps,” he added, his voice dropping to a dangerous low, “to the authorities.” He gestured subtly towards the spilled champagne and the shattered glass, a silent accusation.

Armand, still sprawled on the floor, let out a choked sound. “You can’t… my father will ruin you! You’re just a security guard!”

My father merely smiled, a humorless, chilling expression. “Is that what you think I am? A mere security guard?” He looked at Armand, then at me, his eyes softening for a fleeting moment as he met my gaze. “Lily, darling, perhaps you should wait outside. This doesn't concern you anymore.”

But it did concern me. It concerned me deeply. I stayed, my gaze fixed on my father. This man, who had been a stranger for so long, was suddenly a fierce protector. The security guards exchanged nervous glances. They knew the Dubois name, its power, its influence. But they also recognized authority when they saw it, and David Holloway, despite his humble attire, exuded an undeniable aura of command.

“Mr. Dubois,” my father continued, his voice regaining its commanding tone, “your father is a respected businessman. I’m sure he’d want to know about your… behavior tonight. Especially considering your family’s current legal entanglements. We wouldn’t want to add a public assault charge to the list, would we?”

Armand’s face paled dramatically. Legal entanglements? Public assault? The fear in his eyes was now palpable, replacing the arrogant sneer. He scrambled to his feet, looking wildly between my father and the surrounding guards. The power dynamic had shifted irrevocably. The spoiled billionaire was no longer in control. He was trapped, exposed, and facing consequences he had never imagined.
