Previously: A wedding day shattered when an arrogant groom assaulted his bride's younger brother. The bride's father, a quiet carpenter, witnessed the unthinkable and delivered a reckoning that echoed through the opulent ballroom.

A Father's Fury Ignited

Lily curled on the cold marble floor, his hand instinctively flying to his inflamed, swelling cheek. His chin quivered, the dried lavender boutonnière clutched to his chest like a shield. Vivian, meanwhile, daintily wiped his knuckles with an embroidered silk handkerchief, his gaze fixed on Lily with haughty disgust. “Someone drag this embarrassment away before I call security,” he declared, his voice dismissive and cruel. The words hung in the air, a brutal dismissal of Lily’s pain and dignity.

“Someone drag this embarrassment away before I call security.”

Marcus Vance moved then. His worn leather soles squeaked on the polished stone, each step heavy with a father’s protective fury. He stepped into the foreground, his broad, weathered frame a stark contrast to the delicate opulence of the ballroom. His thick-veined carpenter hands balled into white-knuckled fists, corded veins pulsing along his sunburnt neck. He stood between Vivian and his son, an immovable force of nature.

Vivian recoiled slightly, surprised by the carpenter’s sudden, imposing presence. But his arrogance quickly resurfaced. He lifted his chin condescendingly, jabbing a manicured, diamond-ringed finger toward Marcus’s chest. “Back down, old man,” Vivian sneered, his voice sharp and patronizing, “or I will throw your daughter out onto the street with nothing!” The threat was meant to shatter Marcus, to remind him of his place, his working-class status against Vivian's inherited wealth.

“Back down, old man, or I will throw your daughter out onto the street with nothing!”

But Marcus stood like unyielding granite. His piercing grey eyes, deadlocked on Vivian’s jaw, held a depth of resolve Vivian couldn’t comprehend. The older man’s breathing was slow and rhythmic through flared nostrils, his scarred right hand slowly drawing back at waist level. Vivian’s arrogant smirk began to waver. He saw something in Marcus’s eyes, a primal intensity that chilled him. He realized this man couldn’t be bought or threatened. The fear, an emotion Vivian rarely experienced, began to creep in.
