Previously: A arrogant billionaire heir thought he could belittle a former classmate arriving in a taxi. He was wrong. The classmate’s arrival at a hospital was far from coincidental, and the heir’s world was about to shatter.

A Calculated Humiliation

My disdain for Arthur Vance wasn't just about his arrival in a cheap taxi; it was a deep-seated resentment, a need to obliterate any lingering connection to a past I deemed beneath me. Seeing him standing there, a damp, silent statue in the heart of my father’s domain, was an affront. I needed to assert my dominance, to remind him of his place—or rather, his lack thereof. I stepped forward, the ice in my bourbon clinking against the glass, and shoved my hand towards his chest, expecting him to falter, to shrink away. But Arthur was no longer the meek classmate I remembered. His reflexes were astonishingly fast. In a blur of motion, his hand shot out, catching my wrist with a vise-like grip. A sharp, audible *thwack* echoed in the cavernous reception as he twisted my arm, the kinetic torque locking it in place. Pain shot through my shoulder, my arm held rigidly mid-air. My breath hitched, my smug expression replaced by a mask of shock and burgeoning fear.

“Take your filthy hands off me before my security buries you!” I hissed, my voice trembling with a mixture of rage and disbelief.

Arthur’s steel-grey eyes narrowed, a chillingly calm intensity radiating from them as his grip tightened, turning my knuckles white. The sheer force, the controlled violence, was terrifying. In that moment, the power dynamic had irrevocably shifted. Just as I felt a surge of panic, the outside world intruded with deafening force. The wail of sirens grew louder, and flashing red and blue lights strobed erratically through the glass. Four black, armored Suburbans screeched to a halt outside, their menacing presence announced by the pounding of heavy boots. The automated glass doors burst open, and heavily armed Secret Service agents, clad in tactical vests, swarmed into the lobby. Their leader, a stern-faced man I’d never seen before, charged forward, shoving past me with such force that my crystal tumbler flew from my grasp, shattering on the marble floor in a violent explosion of glass and expensive bourbon.
