The Stormy Encounter

The exclusive VIP salon of the art gallery in Cannes was a sanctuary of opulence, a stark contrast to the tempest raging outside. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls offered a dramatic view of the turbulent Mediterranean Sea, its indigo waves crashing against the shore in a furious display. Rain lashed against the glass, punctuated by the low rumble of thunder. Inside, the warm glow of recessed lighting mingled with sharp spotlights, casting intricate reflections on the polished marble floors and modern sculptures.

Amidst this refined chaos stood Sarah, a flight attendant in her crisp airline uniform. Her posture, usually rigid with professionalism, was now tinged with a vulnerability she couldn’t quite conceal. In her hands, she clutched a passenger registry, her knuckles white. Across the aisle, Armand Dubois, a man dripping with inherited wealth and arrogance, lounged in a velvet armchair, a crystal glass of wine in his hand. His sneer was a permanent fixture, his eyes dismissive.

The tension snapped when Armand, with a sudden, violent gesture, flung the crimson wine from his glass directly into Sarah’s face. The dark liquid splattered across her pristine white collar and delicate cheeks. The silence that followed was deafening, broken only by the storm outside. Armand’s voice dripped with mockery, “Know your place, sky-waitress! You exist only to serve me!” Sarah stood frozen, her eyes widening in shock, tears instantly welling.

“Mr. Dubois, please... I only enforced airline safety protocols on your flight.”

Her voice, when it finally came, was a choked whisper. The wine dripped from her eyelashes, staining her uniform. She clutched the registry tighter, her chin quivering. Armand, unfazed, merely smirked, twirling his empty glass. He leaned forward, jabbing a manicured finger towards her. “My father owns twenty percent of your airline! One phone call and you will be begging on the streets!” he snarled, a flash of lightning momentarily illuminating the stormy sky.

Just as Sarah braced herself, a deep, resonant voice cut through the charged atmosphere. “Those safety protocols were personally written by me, Armand.”
